TALLAHASSEE – The Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County, Inc. (EDC) is now accepting applications for Class 8 of its Entrepreneurial Excellence Program, the region’s premier program for entrepreneurial and start-up businesses. The application deadline is Friday, August 1.
This two night a week, five week program is held at TCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center from 5:30-9:00 p.m. The course fee is $400 for a team of two individuals per startup company.
Enrollment for each course is limited, so interested businesses need to apply as soon as possible to ensure their spot. The EDC is an affiliate program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
“Less than half of all businesses survive the first five years and we are working to ensure Tallahassee’s local businesses beat these odds,” said Larry Lynch, Director of the Entrepreneurial Excellence Program. “This in-depth and comprehensive program gives business men and women the resources and skills they need to identify their specific keys to success.”
This program provides valuable advice to early stage start-up businesses and entrepreneurs as they navigate through the vulnerable stages of business development.
A team of local business experts, researchers and specialists help increase the chance of success in the market by providing insight into effective business models, team development, legal foundations, marketing strategies, funding insight and entrepreneurial experiences.
To date, 85 companies have graduated from the EEP program, leading to the creation of more than 100 jobs in the region, and an opportunity for residents to follow their dream of owning their own business.
“The Entrepreneurial Excellence Program is one of the foundations of the EDC,” said Sue Dick, President/CEO of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council. “We have seen, and will continue to see, great success stories from this program, which is designed to ensure and elevate the success of local early start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.”
