Thomas County, GA, December 12, 2012 - Authorities have captured Thomas County Jail escapee, Jerry Darrin Ross.

Robert Greer, the warden for the Thomas County Prison has confirmed that around 7:30 Wednesday morning the U.S. Marshall Service and Fugitive Task Force out of New York caught up with Ross at a hotel in New York.

Greer said they were able to track Ross's whereabouts after Ross's mother gave investigators his cell phone number. They then used GPS to track his location, which led them to the hotel.

Ross had been working for a tree service out of Ocala, Florida.

Ross was out on prison work detail at Country Oaks Municipal Golf Course in Thomas County back in September when he escaped.
