Tallahassee, FL - November 8, 2012 - A new panel has been formed focusing on ethics within government in Tallahassee.
Mayor John Marks continues to fight ethics charges after he was accused of voting on an issue involving a city vendor who was also a client of his law firm. WCTV has been told this ethics panel has no connection with what's going on with the mayor.
Tallahassee City Commissioner Andrew Gillum helped organize this panel. It includes many distinguished members from the Tallahassee community. The panel will look into financial disclosure, ethics policies, code of conduct and conflict of interest.
Says Gillum: "It will make the community i think feel very comfortable that the elected officials and the senior leadership of this community are being held to a high standard and that standard is clear and transparent not only to the elected officials who are going to be held accountable but also to the public who wants to hold them accountable."
Martha Barnett is overseeing this ethics review panel, she is a former president of the American Bar Association.
This group will continue to meet over the next six months before they release their findings.
