Event Promotes North Florida Stand Down

One Veterans group did some old fashioned BBQ to raise awareness for homeless vets.

The American Legion Post 13 at Lake Ella grilled burgers and hot dogs for veterans. The cookout helped raise awareness for the Stand Down event on April 5-7. The event will take place at the North Florida Fairgrounds.

That weekend will help teach about services available to vets.

"We'll offer various services to include medical, dental, counseling ," said Col. Washington Sanchez of the Florida Veterans Foundation.
