MIAMI -- December 22, 2012

An ex-Marine from South Florida has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for stealing the identities of more than 100 fellow Marines in a tax return fraud scheme.

Jobsen Cenor of North Miami pleaded guilty Oct. 3 to charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He was sentenced Friday to 57 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami says Cenor and a co-conspirator agreed in 2011 to file fraudulent tax returns using stolen identities. According to court documents, Cenor provided the names, birthdays and Social Security numbers of more than a hundred Marines. Prosecutors say that many of the Marines served in Cenor's unit in Afghanistan.

The co-conspirator was sentenced in July to nearly six years in prison.
