A former Marching 100 band member and staff member told the board that the candidate that was chosen for the band director position said himself that Dr. Shelby Chipman should've been chosen.

Former baseball coach spoke at the meeting. He says he will sue the university because of his termination for sexual harassment allegations by a player. He says he'd hoped not to but he says he feels the university is discriminating and violating his rights.

Trustee Karl White says the Florida Board of Governors is pleased with the progress of the presidential search. He says the search committee is pleaded with the number of applications they're receiving, though he cannot give a specific number at this time. He says the goal of having a new university president in sight by the next academic term is very much in sight.

Tallahassee, FL - The board has approved the contract for FAMU's new head football coach Earl Holmes.

The multi-year contract is for $200,000 a year.

Dr. Robinson commended Holmes on an "outstanding" recruitment day Wednesday.

Holmes signed 22 of the 23 athletes that he went after.

Coach Holmes invites everyone to the Orange and Green Game on
April 6th at 1 p.m. at Bragged Memorial Stadium.

Tallahassee, FL - The FAMU Board of Trustees meeting is underway in the campus Grand Ballroom.

Interim President Dr. Larry Robinson is giving his address.

He is updating the board on several items such as the recent report by the Florida Department of Education Inspector General that said FAMU failed to follow state regulations in regards to the 2011 hazing death of drum major Robert Champion.

Dr. Robinson says the university is working on recommendations listed in the report. He says FAMU has already made several improvements such as revising policies and increasing awareness of campus anti-hazing policies.

Dr. Robinson says the university is close to filling the position of Music Compliance Officer. He says it can happen in the next few weeks.
Dr. Robinson says the university is preparing for the September visit from the accreditation group, SACS.
