Tallahassee, FL - September 26, 2012

Students and alumni at one area university had the opportunity to meet with representatives from dozens of companies earlier today.

Hundreds of students came out to meet with potential employers. Representatives from more than 85 companies were on hand to talk about part time and full time positions they have available, as well as opportunities for students to land sought after internships.

In business attire with resumes in hand, students and alumni from FAMU went from booth to booth. The annual Career EXPO is an event many students say is a must-attend.

Tony Worlds, 3rd Year Business Student: "we prepare for this all year round, especially us business students. This is what we're trained to do. Come out here and showcase our skills and what we've learned in class."

Job seekers are able to network with recruiters and representatives and learn about the opportunities available to them now and after graduation.

Tony Worlds, 3rd Year Business Student: "This is exactly how I got my internship last year, so I'm hoping to be able to do that again this year."

Dominique Deasey - 2nd Year Business Student: "it's a truly a networking experience when you get to interact with companies, Fortune 500, get to know about the programs for the summer and see if you're going to be competitive for them."

Some of the fortune five hundred companies at the EXPO included Macy's, Walgreens, Nielsen, and Caterpillar. Organizers said it's important for students to look the part when trying to catch the attention of potential employers. Students agree.

Dominique Deasey - 2nd Year Business Student: "look professional and there's no mistake when you come into the boardroom what you're there to do. There's no question about it."

One young man we spoke with the previous year to says he landed his internship with a company based in Atlanta. The young woman said she plans on attending every year, even if she already has an internship lined up.

They both say this event is invaluable to students and alumni. If anyone missed it, the good news is this is just the kick-off of FAMU's recruiting efforts for the semester.
