FAMU Celebrates 125th Anniversary

Tallahassee, FL - September 27, 2012

A lot excitement is happening on FAMU's campus. And it's not just because it's football season, it's the University's birthday.

FAMU is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. There have been ongoing events in celebration of momentous occasion.

Famu's Foundets Day Convocation is next week. It is of course in celebration of the institution's 125th anniversary, and FAMU's 8th President Dr. Frederick Humphries will Keynote the program.

During his nearly 17-year tenure at FAMU, where he created the Life Gets Better and Graduate School Feeder Programs (GSFB), he more than doubled enrollment while simultaneously raising academic standards. Humphries increased the number of National Achievement Scholars at the school ranking first in the nation three times, out recruiting Harvard and Stanford.

FAMU's Founders Day Convocation is Wednesday, October 3, at 10:10 a.m. in Lee Hall Auditorium. The general public is invited to attend.
