FAMU students, staff and alumni chanted loud at the very top of our state capitol.

At an upbeat ceremony, several dignitaries and state legislators spoke.

That included FAMU's interim president, new head football coach and state leaders that are alumni of the institution. FAMU day was held to recognize the school's accomplishments and contributions to our state.

"Some of the people [here] I don't see on a day-to-day basis so it's great to come over here and see all of this excitement and enthusiasm about Florida A&M University," said Interim President Larry Robinson.

School officials spoke about its history and strong plans for the future.
