Tallahassee, FL - Friends and family are mourning the death of a FAMU student killed in an accident yesterday in Central Florida.
The accident happened on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the victim, 20 year old Timbrina Thomas of Miami Gardens, was a passenger in the car. She was a member of the FAMU Marching 100 Band.
FHP says the driver, 20 year old Brianni Lundy, was traveling north when one of the tires on the SUV began to separate causing her to lose control. The SUV flipped several times and Thomas was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead on scene. Investigators say Thomas was not wearing a seat belt.
We're told students are planning a vigil on campus for later this afternoon. Lundy is listed in serious condition and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
WCTV will bring you more details as they become available.
