TALLAHASSEE, FL- Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) Statewide Small Farm Program, Food & Water Watch (FWW) and the Crescent Moon Organic Farm will host a food workshop titled “Building Sustainable Food Support Systems.” The workshop is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Crescent Moon Organic Farm in Sopchoppy.
The featured speaker will be Patty Lovera, assistant director of FWW, a national consumer advocacy organization that works to ensure food, water and fish consumed is safe, accessible and sustainable.
A growing number of people are interested in providing wholesome food for their family that is both healthy and affordable, and also accessible and sustainably produced.
To address these concerns, this workshop will provide the public community with information about local and global food challenges, including labeling of genetically engineered food, food safety regulations, organic standards and related topics.
The FAMU Statewide Small Farm Program is a participatory capacity building program that works to assist and equip under served farming populations and their communities toward a thriving sustainable development.
