Tallahassee, Florida -July 19
With the Marching 100 suspended for at least next season and the University having tougher schedule to promote after moving its Homecoming game so it didn't compete with FSU's Homecoming, Florida A & M University is working on a $50,0000 marketing campaign with Visit Tallahassee to promote its football team for the 2012-2013 season.
The campaign will focus on increasing FAMU exposure in what were identified as key markets for the school. Those include Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville and Hampton, Virginia.
The campaign will use print, radio and social media such as Facebook to do promotions, deals and travel packages to reach out to fans and alumni.
The campaign is funded through the Tourism Development Tax or 'Bed Tax.' It is a one year agreement.
The campaign was approved by the Leon County Board of Commissioners at its July 10th meeting.
Visit Tallahassee is a division of the Leon County Government.
FAMU opens the season September 1st at Tennessee State. Its first home game is September 15th versus Hampton.
