FAMU Police say a man dressed all in black tried to steal a student's purse Wednesday night.

It happened off Osceola Street in the parking lot near the band's practice field at about 6:15pm.

LT Angela Kirkland says the man punched the student and tried to take her purse, but she held on to it.

Kirkland says the suspect was a black man wearing a black hoodie and black pants. If he's caught, he'll face robbery and battery charges, she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call FAMU Police at 850-599-3256.
