Road Advisory Update - Number 1

Chipley – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing an update on road and bridge closures and restrictions in Northwest Florida due to wintery weather conditions.

Escambia County

  • Boggy Creek Bridge on County Road 97A is closed. Residents should seek alternate routes.

  • State Road 292, Theo Barr Bridge is closed to all traffic.

  • I-10 is closed between, Scenic Highway (Mile Marker 17) and State Road 87 (Mile Marker 31). Traffic is being detoured via U.S. 90

  • U.S. 98, Pensacola Bay Bridge is closed to all traffic.

Effective immediately, tolls are suspended on the Mid-Bay Bridge due to winter weather conditions. The Garcon Point Bridge tolls will be suspended beginning at 9 p.m. CST. Motorists should slow down and use caution when approaching toll plazas, but should not stop. SunPass customers can be assured their accounts are not being charged.

FDOT encourages residents to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unless it is an emergency. Motorists are reminded to be watchful of other drivers and road conditions and to be on the lookout for iced roads. The combination of moisture and freezing temperatures are ideal to form patches of ice on roads. Drivers should remain alert and drive with care.

Drivers may call Florida 511 from their mobile phones. Additionally, updates will be provided as conditions develop at the following: www.FL511.com; @myfdot_nwfl; d3sunguide.com.
