Identity Of Person Killed In Blountstown Highway Crash Released [GALLERY]

At approximately 9pm on August 28, 2013, Sarah Williams Battle, 60, of Tallahassee, FL, was traveling westbound on SR-20 in the westbound left turn lane in a 1997 Acura 3.5RL. Zachary C. Thomas, 25, also of Tallahassee, FL was traveling eastbound on SR-20 in the eastbound lane on a Yamaha FZ1 motorcycle.

Battle began to turn left onto Silver Saddle Drive when she traveled into the direct travel path of Thomas. Thomas applied the brakes and laid the motorcycle on its right side to avoid a collision with Battle, but was unsuccessful.

The front end of motorcycle collided with the right side of the Acura.

Following the collision with the Acura, the motorcycle traveled northeast, while rotating clockwise, into the center of SR-20 and Silver Saddle intersection.

The Acura came to final rest, on its right side, facing south in the middle of the SR-20 and Silver Saddle intersection. The motorcycle came to a controlled stop, facing south, on the west shoulder of Silver Saddle Road.

The roadway was re-opened without any major delays or incidents,

Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS and Fire Rescue assisted on-scene.

Thomas was transported to Tallahassee Regional Medical Center where he died.

The next-of-kin has been notified.

Tallahassee, FL - Police report that Hwy 20 and Silver Saddle Drive are now open.

The Florida Highway Patrol says one person died from the crash. Any other injuries are unknown at this time.

FHP and the Leon County Sheriff's Office are still on scene.

Tallahassee, FL - The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal accident along Blountstown Rd. (Highway 20). FHP arrived on scene at around 9:30 Wednesday evening.

The highway is blocked off from Geddie Rd to Barineau Rd. Silver Saddle Drive is also closed.

Police report that the accident was between a car and a motorcycle.
