Tallahassee, FL - The No Smoking Zones at FSU will eventually cover the entire campus.
The FSU Board of Trustees approved a measure to ban the use of all tobacco products on campus.
There are a number of locations where smoking is prohibited at FSU called, "Breathe Easy Zones." But, some say getting rid of all smoking areas would make for a healthier environment.
FSU is slated to become a smoke-free campus by January 2014.
FSU student Elliott Soto says, "I think it's a good idea for the environment. But, it also kind of limits people's rights to do whatever they want to on campus. They also have designated smoke areas on campus, too. So, I think it was fine before. But, I think that it's good that they're doing this now though, I think."
Kick Butts Day is March 21st from 10am-2pm on FSU's Union. It is hosted by the Health Campus 2020 Student Task Force and sponsored by The University Wellness Center. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism to empower students to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco; the purpose of the event on campus is to promote a healthy campus and bring together student organizations that want a health centered campus. There will be an inflatable bungee run, free food, and live DJ for all who participate and it's FREE!
