Clyattville, GA - "I was like what, that couldn't be him, cause he'd never do anything like that."

Carlos Banks is Greg Reid's cousin; they grew up together.

He's thankful that all charges against his cousin have been dropped.

"Hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes and try to move forward."
Banks lives right next to Reid's childhood home in Clyattville, Georgia.

Like most of Greg's family, It was difficult for Banks to hear that Reid got in trouble.

That's because He's always looked up him.

"How he's like the first person in our family to go to college. So, it's good. I'm proud of him."

Banks tells how they shoot the breeze every time Reid's back in town.
Even toss a pig skin.

He's just excited to see Reid get back on the playing field--assuming he is fully recovered from an injury that kept him out of the Clemson game.

"Oh yeah. I'm real excited. I hope he'll do something special next game you know, cause, our whole family is rooting for him."

This weekend is a bye-week for FSU, but Reid has already been back at practice and didn't miss any team functions because of the arrest.

An attorney for FSU cornerback Greg Reid says it could take months to clear his name.

The state attorney dropped perjury and obstruction charges against Reid Wednesday.

Now, Reid's attorney says he'll have to go through the
time-consuming task of trying to get the arrest erased from Reid's record.

"We do not agree that there was probable cause to arrest him. We will always disagree on that," said Reid's attorney Tim Jansen. "He now has a criminal record. If he applied for a job, a member of the public or a business could find out he has two charges. So that blemish we're going to have to take steps to expunge from his record."

Jansen says it could take months to get the necessary fingerprints, background checks and judge's order.

Tallahassee Police say they are still investigating Reid's friend, but will not say why he was stopped on the scooter.

TPD Statement Regarding Charges Dropped:

"The Tallahassee Police Department fully supports the decision the state attorney's office made to drop all charges. Chief Jones supports the decision the officers made to arrest Greg Reid at the time with the information they had before them. It's the state attorney's job to prosecute from information that develops in a case...with the information that developed they support the state attorney's office."

Tallahassee, FL - He has on a garnet and gold outfit ...but, it's not his FSU football uniform... and this is not the football field...
21-year-old Greg Reid is walking out of the Leon County Jail

Tremaine Grant, an FSU Student Athlete says, "All you can really do with those kind of situations is keep your head up and pretty much be positive."

Our camera was the only one there when Reid was released on bond and left with his attorney around 10:45 Monday morning.

Tallahassee Police say it all started here at the BP Gas Station at 1520 Jackson Bluff Road around 1:40 a.m.

Officers say they pulled over a man driving a scooter, but he fought when they tried to cuff him and ran away.

The officers say they found out the scooter belonged to Reid...but, when they questioned Reid at his home, police say the FSU cornerback referred to his friend driving the scooter as "Montrel" instead of his real name of "Rontrel" Frazier.

Police say Reid also lied about not having any contact with Frazier, which landed Reid behind bars.

Tim Jansen, Greg Reid's attorney, says, "It had nothing to do with him. He was at home, he did nothing wrong and we believe it's a misunderstanding."

Reid was charged with obstruction and perjury.

Taylor Chaffin, another FSU Student says. "So many times these players get into these little mishaps, it'll happen. We all get in trouble some way or another. So, I wasn't too, too surprised."

Cindy Etling, an FSU Student, adds, "He's one of the big players, so of course it's going to hurt any team's morale. But, hopefully they'll get back on their game because it's our time!"

Police are not commenting on why Frazier was stopped nor whether he is facing any criminal charges or traffic citations.
