Around 2:30, select people received a server message like this when trying to log on.

Facebook is one the most popular social networking sites in the world, so when it goes down, many people are affected.

Facebook is usually up and running daily, allowing millions to conduct business as usual; however in recent months, there has been an increase in network downtime.

Logging in to Facebook Friday was not a problem for FSU student Amanda Wittenberg , but she has experienced this glitch before.

"Facebook's kind of a big deal, especially for us college students. So, I mean it's just like, it's annoying really. It's kind of a nuisance because you're trying to get on it and it won't let you, and it like network error or whatever it says. So, yeah, I don't like that," says Wittenberg.

More than 250 million people log in to Facebook daily.

The site is now back up and running.
