Ronnie Hayes plans to stay by his mother's bedside as she heals.

She and five of his other loved ones, all from Perry, were involved in a serious accident in Madison County Friday.

"Just a hurt sad tragedy, but we have to be strong," Hayes said.

"My mom's doing better, she's in surgery right now."

Only one car was involved in the incident. The Florida Highway Patrol said Jakourtney Hayes, 19, was driving a Grand Prix north on county road 14 around 11:30 a.m.

FHP says it's unknown why, but the car started to swerve, then spin and eventually turned onto the passenger side hitting a tree.

Hayes and passenger Tina Hopkins were trapped in. EMS officials said they died on the scene.

Four others in the back seat (including an 8-year-old) were taken to the hospital in critical and serious condition.

"I had two sad tragedies but it's all good, my other family is still here with me, so just pray for them please," Hayes said.

For a living, Hayes competes in the ring as an MMA fighter and now he's fighting by his families' side during this difficult time.
