Tallahassee, FL - Some people use their pets as fashion accessories. But how about combining the two for charity?
Leon County Humane Society did just that today by hosting their first annual Kitty Glitter silent auction. During the three hour auction designer purses and jewelry were sold to raise money for Leon County’s Animal Shelter. The event catered to women and was held at the Tallahassee Woman’s Club.
Dogs and cats from the Leon County Humane Society were spotted roaming the room to entertain guests and to hopefully find a home.
"Tallahassee has a lot of animals available, about 8,000 that need homes right now during the year. So we hope that women come out shop and shop to save a life," said Leon County Humane Society President Tracey Van Hook.
The humane society’s goal was $ 15,000; they were able to raise more than $ 20,000 by the end of the day.
