Fatal Motorcycle and Car Collision in Wakulla County

Wakulla County, Florida- August 2, 2012

An early morning accident has claimed a local man's life.

It happened just after five o'clock this morning at the intersection of U.S. 319 and Curtis Mill Road in Wakulla County. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Mitchell Thompson turned his 2001 Buick into the path of an '84 Honda motorcycle, driven by Charles Laughton. Laughton was traveling south on 319 and, as FSP reports-- swerved left, to avoid the crash. However, it wasn't enough, and the front of Laughton's bike hit the driver's side of Thompson's Buick.

70-year-old Thompson and his passenger; 68-year-old Susan Thompson -- were not injured. 48-year-old Laughton was brought here to TMH where he died.
As of now, no charges have been filed.
