Suwanee County, Florida - September 19, 2011 -

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that an early morning accident between a Ford truck and a bicycle left the bicyclist dead.

49-year-old Jimmie Rollison of Jasper, Florida was traveling south on US-129 in the southbound lane on the morning of September 19th in Suwannee County when he was hit.

A Ford F-150 truck, driven by 38-year-old Brad Scarborough of Live Oak, Florida, was heading southbound on US-129 approaching Rollison on the bicycle. Scarborough was unable to see the bicycle due to the lighting conditions of the early morning hours, the smoke/fog in the area and a lack of lighting illuminated on Rollison.

The front left of the Ford truck struck the rear of the bicycle. The bicycle was flung off of the road and onto the grassy shoulder of US-129. The bicycle and Rollison came to final rest on the grassy shoulder of US-129.

Scarborough stopped as soon as possible after the collision.

So what you just said, Chuck, is that you regularly drive too fast for conditions. Thank you for backing up my point. Now learn how to drive. Hopefully before you kill someone the same way Scarborough did.

right...because if he was only going 20mph.....bad conditions & all...he would still be "DOA"??????

To clear the air, Jimmie was not a "bicyclist/ cyclist." Jim rode his bike to get from point A to point B, it was his transportation. Maybe he should have worn a helmet, I doubt it would have saved him. Simply stated, a man died, a daughter lost her father & family members lost a loved one. If he were in the truck & instead of on the bike, the loss would Still be the same. Everyone has a responsibility to drive/ride safely, follow the laws & watch out for others. There are plently of bad drivers & bad riders....maybe not you....but I bet we've all encountered both. Please consider the family, stop the nonsense & think of the daughter who no longer has her dad.
