"We got a call this morning (Monday) around 6:30 am by a power company crew that had turned off this dirt road and discovered a body about a 100 yards or so down the dirt road," Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid.

A crew with the Suwannee Valley Electric Company came out to work on power lines here in Hamilton County, Florida off State Road Six, just outside Jasper. Investigators say the woman may have been from Lowndes County. Sheriff Harrel Reid says they still don't have a positive ID yet but she was a middle-aged white female.

"We have an idea of who it may be but we're not positive about that so we can't release anything other than that."

The Hamilton and Lowndes Sheriff's Departments are working together on the case as well as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as they try to determine just what happened to her.

"We'll know more once we get her to the medical examiner's office but we definitely feel like it's a homicide"
