NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a central Florida teenager is in critical condition after his father shot him multiple times.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1lHV66y ) reports 18-year-old Eugene Blackwell Jr. intervened in an argument between his parents on Father's Day.
Neighbors called 911 on Sunday evening after hearing gunshots coming from the New Smyrna Beach home and seeing the teen running to a neighbor's house for help.
Police say the teen's mom left the house and the elder Blackwell shot his son four times. The teen was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he is being treated.
Authorities found an abandoned truck belonging to 45-year-old Blackwell Sunday night. He later surrendered and is being held without bail at the Volusia County Jail on attempted murder charges.
