MACON, Ga. (AP) -- A federal grand jury has indicted four sheriff's deputies in Bibb County on public corruption charges.

U.S. Attorney Michael Moore said Friday that Jermaine Hill was charged with theft of government money and making false statements. Hill resigned from his law enforcement job last week and has already pleaded guilty to the charges.

Jimmy Denson, Arthur Howard and DeCarlo Lattimore were charged with attempted extortion under color of official right.

A grand jury returned the indictments on July 2, but the charges were not made public until Friday.

Howard, Denson and Lattimore were arrested Friday. Two of them were on duty at the time.
