Tallahassee, Florida -September 30, 2012
Twenty-two stories. Nearly 400 steps.
That's how far more than a hundred people went Sunday, September 30, as part of the 'Fight for Air Climb'.
Members of the Leon County Sheriff's Office, the Tallahassee Fire Department, Leon County EMS and others climbed the steps at the Plaza Tower in downtown Tallahassee.
It's the first year for the climb. It raises money for the American Lung Association's Florida chapter to help fight the disease.
"We all need clean and healthy air to breath and so we are just out here for the over 100,000 people in our area who might be diagnosed with lung disease. So we are climbing to be their lung champion," says Patty Ballantine of the American Lung Association Florida Chapter.
The climb raised about $20,000 dollars.
