Thomasville, GA - An area school district is starting a new initiative that will have kids swinging, dancing and playing instruments.

Thomas County Schools is putting the final touches on its Fine Arts Initiative. Students will get the chance to take music and dance lessons offered in the afternoon at Thomas County Middle School

"The afternoon program is singularly important to us because it gives our kids a chance to take these classes after school in the school that they attend and so their parents can pick them up only one time in the afternoon. They don't have to pick them up and carry them to another location," said Michael Mayhall, Thomas County Schools Fine Arts Department Chairman.

Bus transportation will also be provided to the middle school from other schools in the Thomas County Schools system for the afternoon classes.
