Tallahassee,FL - With the dry months of Fall residents should be aware of what they can do to prevent a fire.
October sixth through the 12Th is Fire Prevention Week for the state of Florida.
"Well Kitchen fires are the most common home fire. First thing you can do is have a fire extinguisher handy inside of the kitchen where you can get to it very quickly. The 2ND thing you can do is always stay with your food when you're cooking," says LT. Mike Bellamy, Spokesperson for Tallahassee Fire Department.
This Saturday TFD will hold a public safety event at the Wal-Mart on West Tennessee. Fire mascot Sparky and a fire truck will be on display for residents to get first-hand information on fire safety.
