Fire in Early Morning Hours Results in Total Loss of Home

Tallahassee, FL - At 5:57 a.m. on October 15th, units from the Tallahassee Fire Department Station’s 14, 4 and 1 responded to a report of a mobile home fire in the 4700 Block of Crooked Rd.

Firefighters faced a fully involved double-wide mobile home on arrival and quickly began to extinguish the blaze. The fire was called in by a neighbor who also reported that the home was vacant for several weeks.

The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and a thorough search confirmed that the house was vacant. The fire resulted in a total loss estimated at $35,000. Firefighters were able to save a shed in the back yard that was exposed to the fire.

No injuries were reported at the fire and TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Talquin Volunteer Fire Department and Talquin Electric.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tallahassee Fire Department.
