Fire In Monticello Burns Down Home; Dog Perishes

Monticello, FL -- January 30, 2012 --

A fire in Monticello leaves a home burnt to the ground and a family pet dead.

Firefighters were on the scene of a 2-story house in the 11-hundred block of Main Street that was fully engulfed in flames at around 1:30 pm Monday afternoon.

The blaze left the 1972 house a ruin in ashes and has been ruled a complete loss. A house pet was unable to make it out and perished in the fire. Another family pet is missing.

No word yet on the cause of the fire, but it remains under investigation.
