Firearms and Public Health

Updated: Thu 6:22 PM, Jan 10, 2013

FSU administrators are using recent gun talks as a teachable moment for students.

Thursday, public health experts discussed firearms issues that they say future the physicians at FSU's College of Medicine should be aware of.

They also discussed the relevance of firearms to their medical practices.

Marshall Kapp, director of the Center for Innovative Collaboration in Medicine and Law at FSU, says, "The goal here is to keep the discussion going, help to focus the discussion, make it more informed; trying to civilly and intelligently, rather than just emotionally, discuss and deal with these questions."

The discussion was part of an informal "brown bag lunch" event.
