Tallahassee, FL - Florida's First Lady, Ann Scott, read to students at DeSoto Trail Elementary School in Tallahassee Wednesday.
Scott emphasized to kids the importance of literacy; and continuing to read even when the school year is over.
She read to several different classes-- pulling out one of her daughters' favorite childhood books, "The Giving Tree."
Scott says, "It's fun. It doesn't have to be work. If they keep up their reading skills over the summer, it makes their lives and their teachers' lives so much easier when they start school again in the fall."
After reading time, students had the opportunity to ask First Lady Scott questions. They inquired about everything from living in the Governor's mansion, to the Scotts' grandchildren and pet rescue dog, "Tally."
