Tallahassee, FL - November 3, 2012

In the final days of the election season, Florida Republicans are keeping their substantial fundraising lead over the state's Democrats.

Campaign reports filed on Friday showed that the Republican Party of Florida raised nearly $14 million in cash donations, while the Florida Democratic Party took in nearly $7.5 million. The reports cover money taken in by the parties from Aug. 10 until Nov. 1.

The state reports reflect the money that can be spent on campaigns for state offices not federal races.

Some of the major donors to the parties include major companies such as Disney and Florida Power & Light. The Villages retirement community gave $250,000 to Republicans while Democrats got money from the Florida Education Association and a group affiliated with the state's trial lawyers.
