ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Heading into a crucial election year, Florida Republicans continue to outraise Democrats by a wide margin.
Campaign reports filed Friday show that the Florida Democratic Party raised a little more than $1 million during the three month period that ended Dec. 31.
State reports show that Republicans raised $6.2 million during the same time period. Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry at the party annual meeting said the GOP would continue to raise money aggressively during 2014.
The total raised by the Democrats is less than half of what the party raised during the same time period four years ago before the last governor's race.
One of the largest checks to the Democrats came from a political committee aligned with Charlie Crist. Crist is a Democratic candidate for governor.
