Tallahassee, Florida -August 24, 2012
Florida Officials are keeping a mindful eye on Tropical Storm Isaac as it could potentially hit Florida.
The state activated its emergency operations center on Thursday August 23, 2012 because of the Tropical Storm.
Governor Rick Scott as been in and out of the EOC over the last few days, receiving updates from members of the National Hurricane Center on Isaac's progress.
Since the EOC opened, governor Scott has been briefed four times about the storm and the actions the state is taking to prepare.
"Mainly it's been preparation in monitoring the storm, communicating in as far as taking protective action as the storm is still a ways south and it's several days before we will feel the impact," says Mike DeLorenzo, deputy director of Florida Division of Emergency Management.
