SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Wildlife officials are offering a free hunter safety course in Broward County.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will host the event Saturday in Sunrise at the Markham Park Shooting Range.

A commission statement says those who want to participate must first complete the online portion of the course before attending and bring the final Web report to the course. It does not have to be notarized.

Students will learn about hunting laws, safe gun handling and hunter ethics or responsibility, among other topics. They will also be taking a final test. The course also includes live-firing instruction on the shooting range
