UPDATED 2.16.2012 by Mike Springer

For several hours this was the scene near Miccosukee Road and Capital Circle Northeast...three people cuffed as a helicopter hovered overhead, searching for the fourth.

"I wasn't sure what it was. We thought at first it might of been just some training with TMH. You know, flying in and out?," says Brenden Lata who works nearby.

What started off as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a manhunt.
The Florida Highway patrols says a trooper pulled over a Gray Nissan Rogue around 2:30 in the afternoon.

"The vehicle made an improper turn in front of the trooper's vehicle. He stopped them and noticed the odor of the narcotics," says Sgt. Bill Martinez of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Suspicious, the trooper began to question the driver. That's when one of the passengers got out and ran, dropping two bags of what troopers believe were drugs.

"There was marijuana and possibly some cocaine involved. We've got to test it to make sure what we have and the volume of what we have," says Martinez.

Shortly after, the Imagine School at Evening Rose was placed under lockdown as troopers searched the area, looking for the suspect. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later.

The three arrested are at the Leon County Jail. Their names and charges have not been released. The fourth remains at large.

A traffic stop turned drug bust puts a Tallahassee school on lockdown and brings a bevy of patrol cars to a neighborhood off Miccosukee Road.

We have exclusive video as two men were handcuffed and put in patrol cars on Miccosukee Commons Drive right in front of the Children's Home Society.

An FHP spokesman says a trooper smelled pot during a traffic stop and the next thing he knew, one of the passengers bailed out and ran.

An FHP spokesman says he dropped two bags of drugs along the way and troopers recovered both marijuana and cocaine.

Four people in all took off running, three have been arrested.

The fourth suspect is described as a black man with dreads, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The manhunt put the nearby Imagination School on lockdown and children walking home from a school bus stop at the corner walked right past the scene.

Tallahassee, FL -- by Julie Montanaro

According to Florida Highway Patrol SGT Bill Martinez:

A trooper tried to stop a silver SUV on Miccosukee Commons Drive. During the stop he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car and when the driver got out a passenger bailed out of the car and ran.

Troopers chased him toward the Banyon Bay apartments. They believe he dropped two bags of drugs on the ground. When the trooper returned to the car all three other occupants had fled.

Troopers say they have captured three of the four people. They are still looking for a suspect who is only described as a black man with dreads wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. A sheriff's office helicopter has been scouring the area for the fourth suspect.

FHP has suspended its search but the Tallahassee Police Department continues to search for the fleeing suspect. The suspect may be possibly armed so people are encouraged to call FHP or TPD if they have any information.

Was the lady Trooper that spends her whole shift camped out at Chiles able to respond, or did she stay up on Thomasville Road?
