Associated Press Release
ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- Former Associated Press correspondent Elliott Minor, who was known for his coverage of south Georgia for more than two decades, has died. He was 71.
Minor's daughter, Evelyn Minor, says her father died Thursday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany of complications from pancreatic cancer.
Minor joined the AP in Philadelphia on April 23, 1973. He transferred to Georgia in May 1984, where he was Albany correspondent until he retired in May 2007. For more than two decades, Minor covered numerous stories, including agriculture, features, the weather and executions.
Evelyn Minor says her father loved writing agricultural stories because he felt he was helping farmers. She says he loved meeting people and could talk to anyone.
A memorial service is planned Sunday afternoon at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany.
