Tallahassee, FL - A group of teenagers is spending the weekend with a former FSU and NFL star.
The fun kicked off Thursday night with a concert by Christian Rap Group, "Rhema Soul" at Every Nation Church in Tallahassee.
About 50 13-to-17-year-olds who are in foster care get to hang out with former football player Corie Simon.
The kids are a part of Simon's three-day camp called, "Corey's Kids."
The outreach for foster kids allows them to participate in athletic and mentoring activities.
Fifteen-year-old Christian says it was an honor just to meet Corey Simon. He says, "Being able to see him be a role model towards other kids just kind of touched me and told me that I want to help others, too."
Simon says, "It brings joy to my heart. A lot of these kids have been dealt a raw hand. But, it's encouraging to me to see them come out here and really let all that baggage go. It just means the world to me."
On Friday, the camp will have sports activities and a kickball game with Corey Simon at the FSU Intramural Fields. Saturday, camp participants are scheduled to spend the day at Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center in Jefferson County.

More than 50 children will participate in athletic, mentoring activities this week
Tallahassee - For the third year, the Department of Children and Families and Big Bend Community Based Care are partnering with former FSU and NFL star defensive tackle Corey Simon to host "Corey's Kids" camp for about 50 children this week on the campus of Florida State University.
This year, DCF and our many partners across the state held 16 camps for the 2013 Camps for Champions summer series for 1,000 children in foster care. These camps offered mentoring, team-building and leadership opportunities. Several camps focused on athletics, but others offered art classes, technology and more. All of the camps helped the youth share a special experience and build self-esteem and character.
Corey's Kids camp will kick off Thursday evening with a Rhema Soul concert specifically arranged by Corey Simon for these teens. On Friday, the youth will be participating in various sports activities, an all-camper kickball game, and a special treat of an IMAX movie. The last camp day is Saturday, when the youth will be spending an entire day at the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center. The camp with close on Saturday evening with a banquet and talent show featuring Corey's Kids campers.
