Valdosta, GA - The Valdosta Police Department says the men came to Valdosta from North Carolina and may have robbed other businesses on the way.
On saturday night, Sophion Tamol, Doron Jodis, Nakia Darrot, and Johnathan Strickland robbed the Briarwood Motel near I-75. When they left, with the money, in their getaway car, the hotel clerk called 911. Officers spotted the car shortly after.
The men are charged with armed robbery, and possession of a gun during a crime.
"They picked the wrong place to commit an armed robbery. We're not going to tolerate those kinds of things. This was the perfect outcome. If you're gonna have a crime like this, the perfect scenario is nobody gets hurt", says Valdosta Chief of Police Brian Childress.
Childress says the dilligence of the hotel clerk, 911 dispatch, and the detectives is the only reason the suspects were caught. All four acted quickly enough to catch them in the city.
