Havana, FL - October 30, 2012 -

Tuesday, the Gadsden County Health Department announced its newest dental clinic will soon be open in Havana.

For the last month they've been using a loaner mobile unit from Orange County, FL to travel the county and provide dental services.

With it, dentists have given exams to more than 500 students and performed more than 200 other procedures.

The Health Department says one of the big issues concerning residents' health is lack of transportation.

"The access to dental care is the problem," said Juan Marcos, a Gadsden County dentist. "It's not the providers, which can be fixed easily but actually having a place that's closer for them to go to, that's going to definitely solve the problem."

Gadsden County already has dental facilities in Quincy and Chattahoochee.

The county will use the mobile unit until it's returned in mid-December.

After that, the clinic on 604 E. 5th Ave in Havana will be ready to see dental patients.
