SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) -- A man who stopped to help a wreck victim in metro Atlanta ended up getting his vehicle stolen at gunpoint.

Gustavo Carmona told reporters that he was driving south on Georgia 400 in Sandy Springs when he saw a BMW lose control and hit the median wall early Thursday. He stopped to help. But the driver pulled a gun and demanded Carmona's van. Carmona says he thought he was going to die.

Sandy Springs police say they found Carmona's van undamaged Friday in Gwinnett County and returned it to him. Police found two semi-automatic weapons, a machete and ammunition in the wrecked BMW. Police say the BMW was not stolen and they know who owns it.

Carmona says he doubts he will stop any more to help wrecked motorists.
