Georgia police are searching for a man accused of murder in Palatka, Florida after he is believed to have crossed state lines. Kevin Daniels has been on the run for more than 24 hours and so far police have been one step behind him.
Their search began after police were called to a shooting at a child's slumber party in Palatka. Investigators say Daniels broke into the home, opened fire and killed a 34-year-old man.
The home belongs to his ex-wife who had filed a protection order against her estranged husband in February. He violated that order when he reportedly followed her home in March.
A new tip has led investigators to believe Daniels crossed state lines to the home of a family or friend in Brunswick, Georgia.
"They went out looking this morning, they didn't find him but they did verify that he was here and we are currently looking for him," said Palatka Police Chief Gary Getchell.
Police can't determine if he was just passing through or if he's still hiding. They do say he's still armed and unpredictable.
Authorities ask that if you have any information on Daniels' whereabouts to call the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
