Gun Shots Fired in Valdosta
Gun shots were fired in the 2000 Block of Melrose Drive at about 5PM Wednesday. It was between East Park Avenue and Lakeland Avenue.

Officials with Valdosta Police Department tell WCTV that gun shots were fired in the 2000 Block of Melrose Drive at around 5:00 PM Wednesday. Captain Bobbi McGraw says the incident happened between East Park Avenue and Lakeland Avenue.

Tow men are in custody at this time, but their names have not been released. McGraw says the gun fire erupted after an alleged argument.

No other details are available at this time.

You are a fool if you truly believe the response to this incident was "overboard"! I wonder if you would have the same opinion if active gunfire was directed towards your home, with the offenders still in the area. Save your ignorant, uneducated comments concerning law enforcement and add something of worth to the community.

Im so angry.. My sons and daugher in law live one block from this incident, with my 5 grandkids.. this neighborhood has gone from bad to worst, the violence and drug activity is outragious, they should beef up patrols and drug official there...I was terrified when my family called me and they on the floor in in terror..City of Valdosta Do Something.....

Brandon--It is with deepest sympathy we must inform you that the english language is not part of the school system's curriculum any more. I wonder what kind of dictionary will replace Webster.

The faculty senate at Valdosta State University is taking a stand against concealed guns on campus. They unanimously passed a resolution last week to keep guns out of the classrooms and off university grounds. The faculty senate is standing in opposition to house bill 981. The bill proposed allowing citizens the right to carry concealed weapons into bars.. churches.. college campuses and even elementary schools.
