Citizens of Tallahassee met at the Capitol today to raise awareness about the importance of ending America's dependence on oil.
The group took part in a nationwide event called Hands Across the Sand. Organizers are calling for local government to stand up to the challenge of finding ways to promote cleaner energy.
"We need to, in the state of Florida, take leadership toward getting renewables on our portfolio and, uh, getting off of fossil fuels," said Kim Ross of ReThink Energy Florida.
The group joined hands in front of the Capital. Many of the people there either walked, rode bikes, or took the bus to the event to show their commitment to lowering the dependence on fossil fuels. The group also opposes off shore drilling.
