Havana Man Struck and Killed Crossing Street

Havana, FL - A man was killed around 11pm last night when he was struck by a pick-up truck.
Florida Highway Patrol says it happened along US Highway 27 in Havana. The truck was traveling Northbound when 22 year old Martin Islas-Ponce of Havana tried to cross the northbound lanes of US 27 on foot and entered the path of the truck. Islas-Ponce was hit and thrown into the median.
The driver of the truck, 50 year old Van Johnson of Quincy, did stop. And was not charged.
Islas-Ponce was pronounced dead on scene.
