Tallahassee, FL - Put on your western wear, don your dancing boots and bring your sweetheart to the Bradfordville Blues Club on Sunday, February 10, 2013, for the second annual Have a Heart 4 Horses fundraiser to benefit Cupid and other horses saved by Triple R Horse Rescue.
The fun-filled Valentine event includes dinner, line dancing with live music by “Encore,” cowboy karaoke, silent auction and raffle!
Cupid, who has a heart on her forehead, was part of a herd of five horses rescued by Triple R from a Leon County farm. Cupid is one of dozens of neglected and abandoned horses that have found their way to Triple R (also known as Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Ranch Inc.). She and another young filly were only days away from not being able to be saved.
Eric Pelletier, Triple R’s president and founder, is dismayed by what he sees, often having to fight back tears while negotiating with an owner to give up a horse that has been obviously neglected and often abused.
“Horse abuse and neglect has always been out there, but it seems to be more prevalent now, probably because of the economy,” Pelletier said. “This event offers a great opportunity for community involvement and entertainment, while assisting horses in need.”
During 2012, there were 34 horses in Triple R foster homes. Triple R adopted out 15 horses and unfortunately lost three of their horses. Triple R, founded in 2009, is run by a group of local volunteers who have banded together to help horses. The rescues come mostly from a six-county area of North Florida and are housed in a network of 18 foster homes that stretch across Leon, Wakulla and Jefferson counties, as well as into South Georgia.
For more information, reservations or to donate to the silent auction, please call (850) 219-1497 or (850) 878-1670 or visit Have a Heart 4 Horses 2/10/13. Tickets are $60 for ages 10 and up, $30 for children and $100 for a pair.
