Head on Crash Kills One

Marion County, Florida - August 18, 2012

A head on crash kills one at 9 o'clock Friday night in Marion County. According to Florida Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Wesley Custer was driving west on County Road 42. 18-year-old Cody Nolan was traveling east on County Road 42. Custer's 1998 Pont Bonneville drifted left on the center line into the east lane of travel.

The left front of Custer's car collided with the left front of Nolan's 1999 Dodge Ram. After the impact Custer's vehicle rotated counterclockwise and came to final rest in the roadway.

After the impact Nolan's car rotated clockwise, traveling over Custer's car and came to rest on the south grass shoulder of County Road 42W.

According to FHP, Custer was pronounced dead on scene by Marion
County EMS Personnel. According to FHP, he was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not reported to be in his system.

Nolan was taken to The Villages Hospital. According to FHP, he suffered minor injuries and alcohol was also not in his system.
