Capital Regional Medical Center Release: Capital Regional Educates Community During Heart Month

Tallahassee, FL - To help raise awareness for Heart Awareness Month, Capital Regional Medical Center has planned a series of events in February that are open to the public.

"Heart disease is very relevant in this country," said Dr. Niraj Pandit, cardiologist at Capital Regional Cardiology Associates. "For men and women, heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death."

"Although some factors such as genetics and age are beyond an individual's control, there are measures, such as exercising, weight loss, smoking cessation, controlling diabetes, and controlling cholesterol, that can lower the risks of developing heart disease, Pandit said."
