Heavy Fire at Tallahassee Home [SLIDE SHOW]

Tallahassee, FL - A fire destroys a home and sends one woman to the hospital on Leon County's southwest side.

Flames fully engulfed a single-story home in the 700 block of Westway Road just before noon.

A woman inside the home was rescued and taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She is being treated for smoke inhalation. Her condition and name are not known. No one else was hurt.

Firefighters had the blaze under control quickly. Firefighters also rescued 6 dogs from the home.

Firefighters believe the fire began on the front porch. They are blaming a lit cigarette for the blaze.

Tallahassee, FL - 12:35 pm - When firefighters arrived one woman was inside the home, and the home was fully engulfed in flames. The woman was transported with smoke inhalation. She was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Her condition is not known. Another male occupant was unharmed. 6 dogs were safely evacuated from the home. It took firefighters ten minutes to get the fire under control.

Cause of the fire is unknown. The fire is still under investigation.

Tallahassee, FL - 12:29 pm - Leon County EMS transported 1 occupant to TMH with smoke inhalation and Leon County Sheriff's Office assisted on scene with helping evacuate six dogs from the home.

Home fully involved upon TFD arrival. Cause unknown at this time.
$70k in damages and total loss. 3 occupants home at time of fire in a
single family home. There are no injuries.

Tallahassee, FL - At 11:29 am, Lt. Mike Bellamy with the Tallahassee Fire Department contacted WCTV to report that TFD is working a house fire at 700 Westway Rd. The fire is fully involved. Units are still on scene.
